Can I do a thesis or a PhD in the lab?

The Metabolic Intelligence Lab regularly hosts thesis students and PhD candidates at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome. The current team includes a PhD student and post-doctoral research fellows working alongside faculty; the Members page shows who is in the group and what each person works on.

What background fits this work?

The lab sits between applied physics and biophotonics, machine learning and metabolic modelling, and nutrition. Physics, engineering, biotechnology, pharmacy, computer science and nutrition backgrounds all have a place, depending on the line.

What would I actually work on?

One of the active lines: optical imaging of cellular metabolism, imaging biomarkers in blood cells, AI models of human metabolism such as the Metabolic Avatar, or one of the four devices the lab develops — Chewing, SKID, ReaCT and Byo-me.
